Luther Monroe’s “State Of The Art” debut album is a celebration of diversity.
Luther Monroe is a swiftly rising producer whose been classically trained since his youth. The London-based electronic music producer has an uncanny ability to always combine a variety of compositional elements, incorporating real instruments with cutting-edge electronica of every kind.
Q. So, the last time we interviewed you, we talked about your output in a variety of production styles; what’s cooking this time, Luther?
A. Well, I’m very excited to have just released my very first album of 13 tracks that took over a year to complete in between other projects. 11 of the tracks are previously unreleased, and the styles are: Chill Trap, UK Garage, Instrumental Hip-Hop, Big Beat, Electro Rock, Micro and Atmospheric Drum and Bass, Ambient, Soft Metal, Fantasy Downtempo, Progressive Rock, Cinematic Trap, and Psychedelic Dub; all with organic fusion and some with world influences as well.
Q. You’re quite handy with Guitars too even though you’re strictly speaking only classically trained in Piano and Violin, right?
A. Yeah, in “Swagger” and “We’ll Meet Again” on my album, I’m using 6 different guitars in each of those productions. It was massive fun to make those, but it took me months to study sound engineering to advanced enough levels to be able to get those mixes right. It’s only been a few days, but some people on SoundCloud have already gone a bit bonkers over those tracks!
Q. We recognize that most of your music has quite a cinematic feel to it and you’re pitching them to big media companies for use on the big screen. You’ve released 2 vocal tracks on the album; can we expect more featuring vocal artist releases in the future?
A. Most definitely.. I’m already working on an upbeat female vocal track called “Girlfriend” due out in January 2023. But I’m gonna be working with a lot more featuring artists soon for increased vocal songs next year too, in the styles of Hip Hop, RnB, vocal Trap, Alternative Rock and Power Pop.
Q. You’re still offering all your music as free downloads from your SoundCloud page right?
A. Sure am, and I can’t see why I’ll be changing this anytime soon. If people want to show support financially, it’s their decision. But I would only break my heart if people couldn’t have continuous access to download all of my music otherwise. The most important thing to me is that my music gets around easily, so more people might enjoy the fruits of what I love doing most in life.
