Producer from Stockholm, Södermalm, Sweden. Artist name: YV , initially short for “yung vape”, but damn that name was corny so I ended up changing to YV instead in 2014.
What got you into music and made you realize that it was your chosen path?
Started making music when i was about 11 years old with some friends and Yung Sherman (Axel) known from Sadboys/Drain gang, witness the rise of their success was amazing, when we were younger before that he introduced me to make beats in Reason, His Style and skill making beats really inspired me to start produce myself.
Tell us about your new music (Song/EP/Mixtape/Album)? And what’s the story behind it?
Mostly release some quickly made singels, But a more refined album is in the making, or an EP, depending on what kind of project I aim for.
Although several shorter EP´s in different styles can be more interesting as i like to produce very different genres.
What makes your music unique? How would you describe it? (genres/sub-genres)
My production style is very inspired by me watching yung sherman make beats when we were young learn the methods of composition while adding my own taste, Mostly Trap, Ambient and deep house kind of sounds, often combined. although not as detailed as yung sherman, I usually make them very fast and is not as patient.
Who are your biggest music influences? And any particular artist/band you would like to collaborate with in the future?
Obviously Yung sherman, but also Yung gud, Whitearmor, Three 6 mafia, J Dilla, DJ screw, Gang starr, Aphex twin and Boards of Canada. More collaboration is up and coming with some other artists I know.
How do you balance your music with other obligations – family, friends or work?
Sometimes I produce everyday for weeks, And other times I don’t produce anything at all for months, depends on my mood to do anything creative or if I have the time to do it.
Which is the best moment in your musical career that you’re most proud of? (awards, projects or public performances etc.
When yung sherman says he likes a beat I’ve done.
How do you balance your music with other obligations – family, friends or work?
Gotten harder to find time when growing older, to much other stuff i need to do, But will start spending more time from now on.
What advice would you give to aspiring musicians?
Just keep on grinding. Get good software and VST´s and listen to a lot of inspiring artists you like, don’t give up cuz its hard.
If you had one message to give to your fans, what would it be?
Be ready for different genres when I release projects.
What’s next for you? Any upcoming projects?
Working on my new album, with some good collaborations, may take some time tho. Will see that the future holds in my musical journey.
